Grazie alla sua interfaccia ben studiata, questo synth invita alla sperimentazione, consentendo una programmazione molte veloce e offrendo risultati sonori incredibili.
Il cuore del Lead A1 è un nuovo motore di modellazione analogica che porta la sintesi analogica virtuale di casa Nord ad uno step successivo, con un algoritmo che ricrea il percorso del segnale analogico con un realismo inquietante ed un’immensa varietà sonora. Con la sua polifonia a 24 voci e le sue quattro parti simultanee, il Lead A1 è una vera e propria centrale operativa di sintesi, e si spinge ben oltre i noti limiti degli analogici di ultima tendenza.
La semplice ma sofisticata interfaccia del pannello frontale è il risultato di ripetuti confronti con musicisti professionisti che hanno bisogno di creare il suono perfetto il più velocemente possibile secondo i ristretti tempi richiesti dalle odierne produzioni in studio o dal vivo. Il Lead A1 consente la creazione facile di patch grazie alla una nuova ed unica sezione oscillator, alla matrice di modulazione pre-programmata e agli inviluppi ADR semplificati. Immergersi a creare incredibili patch è molto più veloce di quanto lo sarebbe normalmente con un sintetizzatore della stessa potenza.
La nuova sezione Oscillator è in grado di generare 47 forme d’onda diverse, dalle classiche analogiche alle digitali armoniche e inarmoniche: si inizia con una singola forma d’onda, seleziona una configurazione predefinita di Pitch, Detune, Shape, Sub Mix, FM, AM o Noise e con la manopola Adjust si regolano le impostazioni della configurazione. Il risultato finale è una programmazione velocissima senza necessità di impostare un complesso routing di segnale. Un sound design adatto sia a programmatori esperti che meno esperti.
Quattro arpeggiatori separati con modalità Up/Down e random in un range di 4 ottave tutti sincronizzabili al master clock o al clock MIDI esterno. Il synth è dotato di quattro uscite audio indipendenti con la possibilità di indirizzare ogni parte ad un output diverso. Tutti i potenziometri presenti sul pannello del synth trasmettono dati di controllo MIDI. Disponibile anche una porta USB per consentire lo scambio di dati con un computer.
A completamento della dotazione, il software Nord Sound Manager per OS X e Windows che permette una facile organizzazione , backup e trasferimento dei programs.
La versione tastiera dispone di una keyboard 49 tasti Fatar con una risposta super-veloce. La versione a rack offre funzionalità identiche al 100% a parte tasti, rotella di modulation e stick del pitch bend. Lead A1 e A1R sono strumenti progettati per durare una vita.

Fundamental to the design of the Lead A1 is a brand new simple yet sophisticated front panel interface. The Lead A1 allows easy patch creation and experimentation thanks to a new and unique oscillator section, pre-programmed modulation matrix, and simplified ADR envelopes. The Lead A1’s new Oscillator section generates 47 different waveforms from classic analog to digital harmonic and inharmonic waves, whilst unique Oscillator Configuration Shortcuts make programming more immediate than ever. Start with a single Oscillator waveform select an Oscillator Configuration Shortcut – Pitch, Detune, Shape, Sync, Sub Mix, FM, AM or Noise – and use the Adjust knob to adjust the settings of the configuration. The end result is high speed programming without the need for the usual complexity of routing and patching, and with the opportunity for ready experimentation. A fast track to stunning sound design for both advanced and less experienced programmers.
The Lead A1 features four separate Arpeggiators with Up/Down and Random modes and a 4-octave range. Any or all can be sync’d to the Lead A1’s master clock. The Master Clock function of the Lead A1 allows the LFO, Arpeggiator and Delay to be synchronized, either internally or slaved to external MIDI clock. A Tap Tempo button allows you to easily tap to the tempo of a drummer or to playback tracks.
Having four identical, equally powerful synthesizers at once opens breathtaking layering possibilities. The Split-mode gives you two 2 slots on each side of the split. A flexible Hold functionality lets you latch and hold slots independently in the background while playing something else on top.
The Lead A1 features four independent audio outputs with the ability to route each slot to a different output.
The Lead A1 includes the Nord Sound Manager software for OS X and Windows. Sound Manager is a dedicated librarian app which allows easy reorganizing, back-up an transfer of programs.The Lead A1 features the convenience of MIDI over USB for use with a sequencer or with the included Sound Manager software. All of the Lead A1’s knobs transmit MIDI Control data.
The keyboard version features a Fatar® 49-key keybed with a super-fast response. Aside from the keys, mod wheel and pitch stick, the rack/desktop version features a 100% identical feature set, in a design suitable for stage or studio.
