These would be the most appropriate introductory words for this pedal, but not wanting to bother Father Dante too much, I begin to present the first pedal of the Dante trilogy of the Dolphin's Sound that I could have in my hands.
Like a new Charon, I will take you to the Styx of distortion… prepare a florin!
Aesthetic Considerations
Unlike the first series produced by the house of Florence, which has a much more spartan and raw design, theInferno Distortion it is presented in an elegant and very minimal way, the graphic design closely resembles the material design, based on simplicity without any baroqueism whatsoever that can make the image excessively pompous.
Promoted on the aesthetic side, it earns many points compared to the trilogy of naked men: the white chassis, despite being neutral, makes a good impression and the plexyglass base, typical of the company, completes the aesthetic kit, as happened previously with the Purgatory .
Technical Considerations
Nothing extemporaneous as regards the equipment, there are the usual three controls typical of the preamp pedals, namely:
Gain - Control of the amount of incoming gain
Volume - Output volume control
Tone - Equalization bell control
Everything else refers to the considerations I have already expressed in the review of the Purgatory: the construction philosophy is the same and this also applies to quality.
Sound Considerations
Even if it bears the name of distortion, this term does not seem to me to fully convey what it really is: being a pedal capable of expressing a certain type of malice with a respectable cream, I would approach it more to a sound typical of a channel. lead of modern mold.
Among the first aspects that stand out in this pedal is the not disproportionate amount of gain: you do not get a completely fuzzy sound or a sound so distorted as to be decomposed.
The sound that can be obtained is marked by an excellent type both for modern rock and for modern metal (beautiful sounds are reached up to seven strings, but for guitars with more than seven strings I cannot express a judgment, not being a great fan of Djent sound and above all not being equipped to do so)
In tests that took place through Fender Lonestar Deluxe Stratocaster e Vigier Bumblefoot, on cable Lymphaudio Platinum Way on my combo set in flat, the Inferno gave its best on the humbuckers of both guitars; having less gain than the David it will not be able to satisfy perhaps some heads a little more bad, but for genres derived from hard rock it has given a lot of satisfaction, precise sound spectrum, not fuzzy and composed.
As a distortion device I consider it very precise, you hear everything in focus for all frequencies and it does not tend to mix the bass if you use it for rhythmics; the sound is quite full-bodied and not mosquito as one might expect; it constitutes a third channel that you can add to your amplifier to play a fair amount of genres that need a distorted sound, without disintegrating the original timbre of the instrument and without giving that "crushed note" effect as could happen at high gain levels .
Economic considerations
The price, like the rest of the Dante trilogy series, is in the most interesting range of all, given that industrial pedals and some used boutique pedals are very often found in the same range.
Dolphin's Sound once again confirms itself as a company within the reach of all budgets, which can export quality at a made in China price.

Note from the author
Personally, as I have already written for the David Distortion, I am not a strong user of distortions and therefore it took me some time to understand what role to give them, but with a little inventiveness I found a use suited to my way of doing.
Given the sonic properties of Hell, I preferred to use it as a full-fledged lead channel, and I must admit that it gave me some satisfaction because not having a frightening amount of gain and having a very precise sound allowed me to recreate sounds from Very present “wall of sound”.
An example happened to me with the tribute to Ligabue, in which it allowed me to recreate very distorted sounds without completely distorting the sound of my instrument, especially in the melodic parts.
Frankly it is a good product that can be a turning point for those who want to create an additional channel to a single channel.
