After releasing the bender curves in native format, Softube presents yet another branded product chandler limited, germanium compressor (compatible with Console 1).
It is described not only as a compressor, with a decidedly character not transparent, but as a “mojo machine” capable, therefore, of giving the sound a certain character, and can be seen as a unit containing various plugins (equalizer, distortion, transient designer, compressor).
It is defined as a unit with a unique character: the ratio settings are set by ear, and not through the classic arthymetic approach, and we have the possibility to choose between various compression curves (knee settings) choosing between various diode circuitry (silicon, germanium, zener).

If you remember, we have already talked about diodes (in particular, rectifier circuits), albeit in an approximate way, in a previous article.
Compared to the original hardware, there is the possibility of working in MID / SIDE and to use a external sidechain.
The technology related to the compressor (the detection) is of the FET type, and this makes us immediately think of fast compressions, as well as rich in harmonics.
I haven't officially tested this plugin yet, but I definitely expect quality and character, plus Softube speaks of a very accurate emulation, so I definitely have high expectations.
Today we have reached a point where the "analog in the box”Has become quite saturated, where companies (not all of them) offer us everything and more, often using stratospheric slogans, promising great things, from the point of view of character, as well as sound realism.
The question we ask ourselves today is: will we have to deal with yet another hardware emulation (an end in itself) or with a tool capable of (really) making a difference?
We will find out soon ...
