The Talk Box mode, on the other hand, recreates the classic “talking guitar” without the need for a complicated talkbox setup with the tube, making these beautiful sounds more comfortable and accessible. Finally, Choir mode reproduces complicated vocal textures without even the need for a microphone.
With VO-1, BOSS makes vocoding a breeze. First of all, it connects to your setup like any other pedal. The only additional connection needed will be a microphone, which you will use to drive the VO-1's vocoder processor in the first three modes. Once this is done, just turn on the effect, adjust the parameters and vocalize into the microphone while you play. Don't worry, you don't even need to be in tune. All notes are handled by the guitar as usual, while VO-1 applies the complex ones formants of your voice to the sound in realtime.
