In the year in which it celebrates 50 years from the creation of its first synthesizer, Moog Music has done things in a big way by creating a new revolutionary version of the Theremin (Theremini) and its first non-monophonic synthesizer after about 30 years (Moog Sub 37 Tribute Edition ).
In the spring of 2014, the American house also took care of the production of the most impressive Moog Fest ever made, with guests of the caliber of Keith Emerson, , Laurie Anderson e Giorgio Moroder. On the occasion of Moogfest 2014, an “Engineering VIP” workshop was organized with the exclusive presentation of a new Moog instrument in kit which is now also accessible to the rest of the world: the Werkstatt-01 - Moogfest 2014 Kit.

It is in effect the most accessible analog synthesizer ever made under the Moog brand. The Workshop (in Italian 'officina') comes with a very easy to assemble kit that allows anyone to create a custom analog synthesizer.
Workshop-01 it's analog, monophonic and perfectly 'patchable': the circuit is fully expandable thanks to the mini patchbay supplied.
The only oscillator present onboard (with frequency 8Hz -> 16KHz) produces square and sawtooth waveforms, which can be selected using the appropriate switch. The signal from the oscillator passes to the filter section that comes with the classic 4-Pole Moog Ladder Filter with control Resonance (20Hz-20KHz). L'LFO it has a square and triangular wave and an adjustable speed between 2 and 600 Hz. It is also possible to modulate the cutoff frequency through one of the two sources EG and LFO, with adjustable amount and polarity. The most interesting part of the Werkstatt-01 is undoubtedly constituted by the Patchbay section which, through special connectors, allows different combinations of connections between audio and CV control.
