Altofest - International Contemporary Live Arts Festival, conceived and directed by TeatrInGestAzione.
An international performing arts festival, born with the intention of GIVING PLACE to a community that generates critical thinking, capable of recognizing culture as a primary good, feeling its daily need, a transversal process that calls to dialogue all the social components that make up the contemporary urban agglomeration.
The VII edition of Altofest will take place in Naples from 5 al 9th July, taking place and developing in the most central areas of the city - from Historic Center maximum Materdei e Health for a total of 5 municipalities.
With a schedule that goes from 11:00 in the morning at 23:00, interspersed with "Conversations" moderated by the Critical Observatory and informal meetings with cultural operators. Important news for this new edition is the presence of the offices of the Metropolitan City of Naples of Palazzo Matteotti and Santa Maria la Nova, as spaces donated on the occasion of the Festival.
The Critical Observatory represents a permanent space for interdisciplinary reflection and research, organically linked to ALTO FEST, which puts heterogeneous perspectives and skills in dialogue with the aim of exercising a collegial and polypospective look on the festival, on aesthetic processes, participatory dynamics, the organizational strategies that ALTO FEST activates.
It was formed in 2012, on the occasion of the second edition of the festival, with the main task of assigning the “Operappartamento” residence to one of the artists in the program for the next edition.
During ALTO FEST 2013 the structure of the Observatory evolves to inaugurate an activity of a speculative and creative nature, organic to the programming of the festival, which continuously involves some of its members.
This year the Critical Observatory will be signed with the label OCr, on the model of the acronym of the optical and digital character recognition system, to underline the critical function of monitoring and observing live arts in relation to the festival. Its activities benefit from multiple equipped gazes (of critics, operators, artists, scholars, curators) and precipitate in different interventions, making tools and participatory paths on art available to the artists in the program and the spectators of the festival.
