If you know the plugin Drum Buss di Ableton Live 10, Beatformer will be very familiar to you, except that you can use it as an audio plugin on any DAW.
In spite of these minimal graphic features Beatformer processes the audio with a complex path that allows you to modify the sound by acting on 4 parameters: AIR, Punch, squash e boom.
WORKFLOW
As I said, Beatformer is an audio plugin that we will add to the track containing the drum loop and on which we want to work.
The interface comes with which 4 large main knobs:
AIR
Air is used to enhance the high frequencies and acts by dynamically adding or subtracting harmonics to the signal frequencies. It can operate by working on the stereo L / R front or on the Mid / Side (central and side sounds).
PUNCH
Punch affects the transient of the signal by increasing or decreasing the attack of the signal.
The result is a greater emphasis on the mid frequencies and therefore works well on sounds such as rolls and percussion.
SQUASH
Squash affects the dynamic range of the signal by bringing the portion of the signal with the lowest gains close to its peaks. Squash works after Punch on the same frequencies but after the transients have been processed.
BOOM
It operates on the low frequencies obtaining a typical effect kick drum o tome.
There are additional controls: High Split, Limiter, gain In-Out and a bypass.
PRESET MENUS
A list of presets allows you to quickly recall features suitable for the final effect you are looking for. Here we find things of the type: Lo-Fi or Intensify
