Solid State Logic XL Desk

XL-Desk is the modern reinterpretation of the classic analog studio console. Designed for the most modern DAW-based recording studios, but for engineers who do not need or do not want direct control over the computer, nor analog automation functions, as on other SSL products that have now become standard for integration between software and hardware in the modern studio hybrid.

XL-Desk it is in many ways a traditional 24/8 analog console but packs an amazing set of features. 20 channel strips: 16 mono with dual inputs (switchable between main input or DAW return) and 4 stereo channels. The first eight channels each have a VHD preamplifier. At the top is housed a rack in 500 series with 18 slots configurable at will with any standard 500 module available on the market, from processors to preamps to EQs. XL-Desk comes standard with the legendary SSL Bus Compressor Stereo in slots 17 and 18 (wired directly to Mix A). The rack has its own power supply with very high level electrical specifications (and far more power than any 500 series power supply on the market!). Four main mix buses (A, B, C, D) with B, C and D capable of being routed directly into Mix A. Both the output buses and individual channels can access the 500 series rack and have an additional separate insert point for further processing via external outboard.

Two mono AUX sends and two stereo return inputs; Direct out on each channel, stereo returns and advanced routing between the various buses, make the recording of single stems, in addition to the classic mixdown, comfortable and easy.Each channel has a Stereo Cue Bus section (with Pan and Volume) used to provide example a separate stereo listening for musicians with headphones. During the mixdown phase, the signals coming from the DAW (DAW return) present on the mono channels can be routed to the CUE ST bus and then added to the Mix A, to obtain a mixing console with 16 main faders + 16 Cue ST + inputs 4 stereo channels: that is, it becomes in effect a adder with 40 channels (using the stereo returns and inserting the Sum function you can get to 50 channels in sum). The Control Room section features 3 pairs of monitors + Subwoofer with independently assignable Bass Management, headphone output, Foldback A and B with 2 single talkbacks for headphone mixes and a Listen Mic input with the "legendary" compression circuit, with its direct exit.
