AER COMPACT 60 - Amplifier(!)
I'm not someone who gets excited about an amp easily, and I never thought I'd invest too much in buying a compact amp. Over the years, however, playing instruments ranging from guitar to electric piano to vocals to Theremin, the search for the perfect amplifier has always been a vain chimera. Especially the Theremin gave me a hard time, the sound was never what I was looking for, any sound color disturbed me. I've tried great guitar amps, but then maybe you stick a mic and that little background hiss makes you desperate. Keyboard amps are not good for other things, finding a space-saving and valid solution for guitar and voice - perhaps with an effect - is impossible… in short, it was a constant desire for more. One day I accidentally tried a Aero Compact 60 (Fig.1), German construction. Wow! Dear, indeed very dear when I saw it! But it was (and is) fantastic, I couldn't resist, I realized that maybe I would have done better looking for the amp just years before, when in the pursuit of the best instrument I had left out a very important part of the sound. Over € 800,00 for a compact 60W weighing 8kg, I never thought I could spend that much for such a small amp, yet I have it here, switched on and I don't even notice it (practically no rustle). For me it's ideal: great for acoustic guitar (and classical sounds good too), good for vocals - which looks great - complete with balanced input, phantom power and some quality effects. I play everything there, from the piano to the Theremin to the iPod… for instruments that require cleaning it is really ideal. The integrated effects are not many, essential I would say, but sufficient (4 in all). They can be applied to both channels together or separately (with return volume). I would say that it is the best “neutral” acoustic amplifier that I have tried, it does not add or detract from the sound but it does reach the listener's ear intact and I think this is the greatest advantage. Convenient headphone output and tuner output (Fig.2). With the DI I can use the amp as a monitor and get to a system. In short, a more than complete product. For the record, there is also a compact Classic model on the market, with an equalization aimed more at classic instruments and the possibility of raising the bass without triggering feedback. The Classic is physically almost identical to the Compact but has a greater number of outlets on the back (Fig.3) with the division of the 2 channels also in out and the possibility to set the output volumes of the single outputs. I also tested this model and found the same exceptional sound but in the end the quality / price ratio prevailed and I chose the Compact 60. chorus with reverb, and flanger - color and hi-low filter on both channels. of the “case” is solid, well finished and without edges. On the top the “case” has a handle recess that allows for easy transport.
