One of the most important features of doozzoo is its great ability to compensate for local latency.
Thanks to this feature, it will be possible for your students to play and sing in sync with the built-in metronome or with audio files or even with a video played by the doozzoo media player. Across the "pre-session test” you will be able to determine how high your local latency is and automatically compensate for it. In this function doozzoo is absolutely unique in the world.
But what is latency? In simple terms, latency describes the delay between audio input and output that occurs when converting analog signals to digital and vice versa. Depending on your computer and additional hardware, latency may vary.
Watch this short video. It will show you step by step the simple steps to take for doozzoo to automatically compensate for the local latency of your computer:
Il "pre-session test"
With this test doozzoo calculates the latency of your audio hardware, compensates for it and allows you to play with apps and media player perfectly in time. Below is a summary of the steps you can take to compensate for the latency:
1. Plug in your audio hardware and log into doozzoo
2. Click on the "Pre session test" button (Fig.1)

3. Keep your headphones (or audio speakers) as close to the microphone as possible.
4. Make sure the environment at the time is quiet and peaceful.
5. Scroll down to the “Compensation” area
of the audio input latency”click on the “calculate here” button (Fig.2).

6. Click on “Start Test”. You will now hear some “clicks” coming out of the
your headphones while doozzoo will calculate the latency (Fig.3).

7. As soon as the test is finished you will see a single audio peak on the screen (Fig.4).

If so, click on "Save and Exit".
NB Remember to run the test with the same setup you will use in class. Your student will also only need to run the latency check once. The value will then automatically be stored in the browser. Do this before the first lesson to make sure you are in sync with the apps.
In the next article we will talk about the "Studio" environment
