The WA-8000 follows the sonic legacy of a highly regarded design in the early 90s. Faithfully designed to original specifications, the WA-8000 features a valve New Old Stock (NOS) 6AU6, custom transformer di Lundahl Sweden, a full brass style capsule K67, a “tube mount” and an external heat sink. The WA-8000 meets all the specifications of the original, giving the user that airy sound on the high frequencies and decidedly full-bodied in the mid range, which made it its success.
True to the formula that has always distinguished this brand, the WA-8000 is designed to uncompromising standards with selected high quality components. The WA-8000 features the Swedish-made Lundahl transformer, which has passed rigorous testing cycles better than any other component. Selected NOS 6AU6 tubes provide the widest dynamic range of the various brands tested, allowing for a great level of sonic detail with generous amounts of headroom. The cap completely in K67 style brass, inspired by the original, is designed with precision even down to the tensioning circles, using the highest quality raw materials.
The external valve custom and the heatsink lower the background noise and maintain the optimum operating temperature. An often overlooked accessory of valve microphones is the 7-pin cable. The WA-8000 includes a GAC-7 cable 7-pin made by Gotham Switzerland to rigorous standards that overshadow any alternative in terms of interference exclusion and signal-to-noise performance.
